Henceforth and Forevermore to be Known as the Lamest Blog Post Ever AND the March 1st verse

You know, I'm willing to bet this won't actually be my lamest blog post ever - oh goodie! something for you to look forward to - but I couldn't think of another title.

My left ear has been plugged up all day.  An earthshattering and deeply spiritual way to begin, I know.  I've felt a little lopsided all day and have been walking around saying really intelligent things like, "huh?", "whadjya say?", and "I can't hear you."  I even introduced myself to some new people at church, and I fear they thought I was a real dork, since all I could think about while trying to make friendly chitchat was "my ear is plugged up and I feel lopsided."

And I had to get groceries today (Sunday) which doesn't feel particularly Sabbath-restful, ya know?  With a 4-year-old in tow, no less.  (I know, I know...at least it was only one.  But one who conveniently gets hungry the minute we enter a store and insists on walking with me or hanging on the side of the cart.)

And one of my good friends pointed out a couple of weeks ago that the picture I had over my mantle was too big, so all I can think about (besides my ear being plugged up and feeling lopsided) is "what on earth am I going to put up there now?"  Gee, great - a decorating dilemna.  Oh, the turmoil that is my life.

I'm kidding, of course.  Not about the ear or the mantle, but the turmoil.  And, btw, my dear friend is going to be getting some digital pictures in her email so she can help me virtually redecorate my mantle.  What are talented friends for, right?

So, on to more "spiritual" topics.  I hope your verses are going well.  I'm really having to work on mine; they aren't "flowing" as well as I'd like.  (I blame the ear.)  (And the decorating turmoil.)

My verse this time is John 15:4-5 (NKJV), "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

We are doing a video series in our Pursuer Class (Sunday School) called The Agape Road and it's about abiding, intimacy with the Father, etc.  It's good stuff, but I find this whole concept of abiding somewhat vague.  What does it mean?  What exactly does it look like?  Do I need to pray for x number of minutes?  Read x chapters?  Fast?  Meditate or something?  I need specifics, people!  (Can you tell someone is task oriented?)  (Hence, the trouble abiding.)  (BTW, I like the word hence.)

Well, hang in there, bloggy-memory-verse-friends; we can do this.  Any verse, of any length, or portion thereof, entered into your memory bank is - to quote Martha Stewart - a good thing.  Now, post your verse!

Here's my verse for this time: "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me," declares the Lord. Isaiah 54:17

  4. Hannah's prayer, and now my song....
"My heart rejoiceth in Thee, Lord. My soul exalteth in God. My mouth speaks over my enemies, and I rejoice in salvation. There is none Holy as thee, Lord. There is none beside Thee. Neither is there a rock like my God. There is none Holy as Thee!"

KJ paraphrased to go in verse/song....

  5. Psalm 135:6

The Lord does whatever pleases Him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

I just need to be reminded this month who is in control!

  6. It has been pressed on my heart that leadership is inevitable
    (what profound revelation!)
and it is biblical to submit, even to those who are not "saved" such as in the real world of real life including our jobs and government and so forth....
but also because through our submission and excellence they may become saved...
I am encouraged because although I may not always feel it is being done "my way-the right way, of course, lol" which would be the more thought out, efficient, morally sound way
(as i have come to realize how strategic i think i am)
I want to be a joy to those that I serve!
in this inside, upside down christian way
(last will be first, poor are rich, servants being the greatest...you get the picture)
I truly want to be a servant to all
    here's my scripture:
"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you." Hebrews 13:17

  7. Psalm 139:5
